Onuma Craft Brewery was opened near the majestic nature of Onuma National Park in Nanae, Hokkaido in 1997.
Rather than a large factory, the brewery focuses on small-scale community-rooted production by master beer brewers.
The beer is brewed with natural alkaline ion water from the abundant nature at the foot of the beautiful Mt. Yokotsu in Nanae. A traditional brewing process with top fermentation is used. Local specialties from around southern Hokkaido make an appearance—Nanae apples here, Hokuto rice and spring onions there. These are beers brewed by and for southern Hokkaido locals.
