Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery – Hekiungura Brewery
Revitalizing the community and teaching the next generation
Opened at Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in 2020, this is Japan’s first campus brewery.
The Tokachi region, where the university is located, once had around 15 sake breweries but now has none.
Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery opened this new brewery to bring back sake culture to an area with incredible food and a large farming population. The medium-hard water from the Satsunai River that nourishes the Hidaka mountains is used to create sakes that the company hopes will be beloved among locals. The brewery is also a new community revitalization initiative, and is working together with the university to train the next generation of brewers.

Tokachi Junmai
A drink that will captivate frequent sake drinkers.
Have you heard the term nomasaru? It's a Hokkaido word that means something you just can't resist drinking.
This is the kind of sake that word was made for. ( laughs )
It's got a wonderful, smooth mouthfeel that just spreads through your mouth, and then you taste this soft sweetness.
When you drink it chilled, it's as amazing as you'd expect, but I also recommend drinking it hot when it's little chilly outside. ♡
Now, what do you drink this with?
I personally think it goes great with simmered offal, mackerel in miso broth and a grilled squid delicacy called ikagoro.
This is a junmai sake that will win your heart!
If you're a frequent sake drinker, this is one for you!
