Fukutsukasa Sake Brewery Store
A generations-long tradition of sake with ties to the community
Fukutsukasa was opened in Kushiro in 1919, and the brewery you see today was built in 1922.
In World War II, many breweries were forced to suspend their operations due to nationally ordered mergers and closures and a shortage of ingredients. Fukutsukasa is one of the only breweries in Japan that was able to keep operating, and has made products consistently to this day. Fukutsukasa is proud to be the only brewery in Kushiro, and is always looking for value that can only be found there, from learning about the Hokkaido ingredients that go best together to conducting research on how to make use of the area’s cool climate and other local characteristics when aging and storing sake.

Have you ever seen someone show a new side of themselves, but they're still the same at heart?
This is something new! It's got a bold sourness that other sakes don't have, but amid that sourness is the sweetness that is characteristic of Japanese sake.
In my opinion, this is one you need to drink nice and cold.
It's so refreshing, and there's a fresh aftertaste.
Apparently this is modeled on white wine, and the things you'd have with white wine are best with this sake too. Enjoy a glass with a fish dish.
It goes perfectly with cheese too!
