Taisetsu Ji-Beer
Local beer with local ingredients, made with love for the community
This brewery and restaurant were built by converting Kamikawa Warehouse No. 11 in the Red Brick Warehouses that were selected as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
Led by young local managers with the aim of promoting Asahikawa’s food culture, Taisetsu Ji-Beer opened in 1996 with investments from over 50 companies.
Its malting technology is unusual for a brewery of its size, and with local barley as the main ingredient, these are quintessentially local beers. The restaurant has an upscale yet relaxed vibe, and takes bookings for weddings.

Taisetsu Pilsner
I’m blown away by the crispness! This sets the standard for dry beers!
First, the moderate bitterness of the hops comes to the forefront. That’s followed by a flamboyant flavor with a touch of fruitiness and then this absolutely amazing crispness! I’ve been in the industry long enough to be confident when it comes to crispness (I think!) but this one took me by surprise. (laughs) It’s the most popular drink at Taisetsu Ji-Beer, the factory’s restaurant, too!
Obviously meat and fish dishes go great with this, but the very best food to have with this beer is vegetable sticks. The beer accentuates the sweetness of the vegetables. ♡ Between the great taste and the way it draws out the flavors of food, this is one that can’t be beaten. It’s a must-try!
